Board Meetings - Board meetings are held monthly on the second Monday of each month unless otherwise indicated. Each meeting is held on the second floor of Dogwood Estates just adjacent to the Cinemark Theatre on Wind River Lane. Take the elevator to the second floor and exit to your left around the corner. The meeting room will be the first room on the left that you find with double doors. Monthly Board Meetings are attended by your elected Board Members and at least one representative from Lone Star Association Management. The meetings have an agenda in which the day to day operations of the Association are discussed. Everything that has been brought to Lone Star's attention is discussed in these meetings. Topics of discussion can range from broken water fountains to yearly budget issues. Each meetings has a strict agenda and timetable. If you wish to attend these meetings you are more than welcome to attend but we do ask you contact Lone Star Association Management to inform them of your presence and whether or not you need to address the board to voice any concerns you may have.
Annual Meetings - Annual Meetings are held once yearly historically in August or September of each year. If a majority of the Association Members will not be present, the meeting is rescheduled in order to get the required majority. Annual Meetings are a lot of fun and involve a "State of the Association" update, door prizes, recognition of outstanding volunteers, and guest speakers. Historically a majority of the Board Members are present along with at least one representative from Lone Star Association Management. Our Account Representative updates the Association Members as well pertaining to our financial status and budget needs and concerns. Reports concerning expenditures are also available along with the budget for each Association Member in attendance. If you cannot attend and wish to have a copy, you can procure one by contacting Lone Star Association Management. Also at each Annual Meeting, new Board Members are elected by the Association Members who are in good standing. This is a great time to meet and greet your neighbors and see in depth what is going on in your neighborhood. We look forward to seeing each neighbor one on one each year.
The 2011 Annual Easter Egg Hunt went off without a hitch and all the children that participated reaped the benefits. Approximately 35-40 adults attended with approximately 20-25 young children eager to hunt for the Easter Eggs. Board member Dustin Frank spearheaded the event with help from volunteers such as Dennis and Patricia Lang who help out each year. We hope to see you next year!
So you are walking the trails around one of the lakes and notice a sprinkler head in one of the common areas shooting straight up in the air. Who do you report it to? Report it directly to Christine Riggs or Sherri Edwards of Lone Star Association Management. They will contact the vendors for immediate repair. If you notice anything that is broken, not in working order, missing or anything of that nature please contact them. If you notice a street light out, please contact the City of Denton to report it at 940-349-7000. Be prepared to give them your address as a reference and the exact location of the street light that is out. Some light poles have identifying numbers on them as well. We very much appreciate your "extra set of eyes" and help in keeping Wind River Estates beautiful!
Crime Watch Program "Wind River Rangers"
Effective program creates deterrent. The Wind River Crime Watch Program nicknamed the "Wind River Rangers" has been up and running since 2007 and has been an effective deterrent to crime. Crime has not been a big problem in our neighborhood partly because of the program. The "Rangers" put out good information via Wind River Email News and other social media along with random patrols at night and random monitoring. The program is only as good as its volunteers and right now we need volunteers. If interested in volunteering for this or any other program in Wind River Estates, please contact Christine Riggs of Lone Star Association Management.
Recommend a Local Denton Company
Plumbers, Construction, Lawn Care...etc. Have you had an experience with a company that you found very rewarding. If so, contact the Webmaster of this website at (wrwebslinger@gmail.com) and let us know of the company you had a good experience with. It's difficult to find a company you trust, but to get that information from a neighbor is a more comfortable feeling. It might me a plumber, lawn service, contractor, pool company, electrician, brick layer, whatever the case may be. Recommend them to your neighbors so they get the good information from a good neighbor.
And of course, we always encourage you to use businesses locally here in Denton, Texas.
