WiFi Service - Crime Watch Update One neighborhood in the United States reported 34 wireless networks within their neighborhood as being unsecured. Almost all networks have the ability to be secured and can be set up in only a few minutes. While someone using your wireless network may seem harmless, it can cause headaches for the owner of the system and you risk identity theft. On one street in Wind River there are 6 unsecure networks. Contact your service provider to help you set up a "key code" for your router and secure it. |

Latest Updates
The Wind River Rangers were on patrol Halloween night 2008. A smaller than usual amount of "trick or treaters" were
in the neighborhood this year. Most children seemed to be accompanied by responsible adults, while there were still some
that were not. It appears many of our visitors are not from our neighborhood as many cars were parked along the
interior streets of Wind River. One observation was made of 2 youngsters, approximately 16 years old, tampering
with a car. They were chased off once they received some attention they did not want. Other than that, everything was normal.
November 4, 2008/3:15 pm
At approximately 3:15 pm today, two
young Caucasian girls were confronted by me going door to door selling
children’s books and/or subscriptions.
One claims to be the daughter of a
“Wilkinson” on Tahoe
Lane. After searching the Denton Co. Appraisal District website, there is no “Wilkinson” on
Tahoe Lane. They claim to be studying for
a degree in Marine Biology. When one asked me for a bottle of water, I gave her
a bottle then asked why she
didn’t just go home and get something to drink over
on Tahoe
Lane. They promptly said thanks and left.

This observation was noted at about 5:35 am. The garage door is wide open. To make matters worse there were no vehicles in the garage nor parked in front of the house. There were many articles of high value in the garage. Someone probably went to work early and didn't watch the garage door go down and stay down. There are a handful of homes in our neighborhood that leave their garage door open all night. This is very dangerous. Please close your garage door at night when you retire and when you leave for work or anywhere else. |
